Preliminary Round of the 2023 "Chinese Bridge"

Students from the Tourism Confucius Classroom at University of Donja Gorica Excel in the Preliminary Round of the 2023 "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition in Montenegro Division

 

The preliminary round of the "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition in the Montenegro division came to a successful conclusion on May 24th, 2023, at the Faculty of Economics, University of Montenegro. Two participants from the Tourism Confucius Classroom at University of Donja Gorica showcased remarkable proficiency in Chinese and solid learning abilities, ultimately achieving impressive results. Una Pajović was awarded first place in the secondary school group, while Petar Pajović secured second place in the primary school group.

 

Hosted by the Confucius Institute at the University of Montenegro, the competition saw the participation of 16 contestants from various regions of Montenegro, competing in three categories: primary school, secondary school, and university.

 

Petar Pajović, who earned second place in the primary school group, delivered a speech on the theme of " Happy Chinese, Joy & Fun!" sharing the story of his connection with China and the joy and growth he experienced while learning Chinese. In the Chinese talent showcase segment, Petar chose to perform a rendition of the song "Thank You for Listening to Me," earning enthusiastic applause from the audience with his clear and melodious voice.

 

Una Pajović, who won first place in the secondary school group, captivated the audience with her speech titled "Chasing Dreams in Chinese." She shared the language challenges and obstacles she encountered during her first visit to China, as well as the joys and hardships of learning Chinese. Una expressed her firm determination to excel in Chinese and her desire to return to China. During the Chinese knowledge quiz segment, Una demonstrated exceptional composure, answering all the questions accurately and achieving a perfect score. In the Chinese talent showcase, Una presented the traditional Chinese folk art of paper cutting. Her exquisite paper-cutting skills brought intricate fish designs to life, leaving a lasting impression on the judges and the audience. The display board showcasing her paper-cutting works, along with a video showcasing the process and results of her paper cutting, further showcased her talent.

 

This marked the first time that participants from the Tourism Confucius Classroom at University of Donja Gorica were selected to compete since its establishment. They stood out amidst fierce competition, achieving outstanding results and fully demonstrating the achievements of Chinese language teaching in the Tourism Confucius classroom and the students' exemplary spirit. The Tourism Confucius Classroom at University of Donja Gorica will continue its efforts to provide students with more learning opportunities and platforms, cultivating more outstanding Chinese learners.
