Celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival, Sharing the Beauty of Civilization

Tourism Confucius Classroom at the University of Donja Gorica, Montenegro Holds "Embracing Mid-Autumn" Chinese Cultural Experience Event

To celebrate the traditional Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, the Tourism Confucius Classroom at the University of Donja Gorica (UDG), Montenegro, successfully held the 2025 "Embracing Mid-Autumn" Chinese Cultural Experience Event at the Entrepreneurial Nest at 12:00 p.m. local time on 6th October. The event attracted nearly 200 participants from various sectors, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere.

 

Distinguished guests in attendance included H.E. Chen Xufeng, Ambassador of China to Montenegro; Academician Veselin Vukotić, Rector of the University of Donja Gorica; representatives from China Road and Bridge Corporation and Shandong Hi-Speed Group; Gao Qinglong, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Montenegro, along with all faculty members; Dr. Marija Orlandić, Dean of the Faculty of Chinese Studies; Fu Lili, Chinese Director of the Tourism Confucius Classroom; Tamara Radinović, Foreign Director of the Tourism Confucius Classroom; faculty members of the Classroom, as well as faculty and students from UDG. All gathered together to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival.

 

 

 

 

The celebration commenced with hosts Arnad Lekić and Nicole Xiang. Dr. Marija Orlandić, in her welcoming remarks, emphasized that since its establishment, UDG has actively promoted cooperation with China in the fields of language, culture, and technology. She praised the students for their diligence and perseverance in learning Chinese, extended warm festive greetings to friends from China, and highlighted the celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival as a symbol of openness, cooperation, and profound friendship between Montenegro and China.


Ambassador Chen Xufeng then delivered a speech in which he elaborated on the profound cultural connotations of the Mid-Autumn Festival. He noted that the festival embodies the Chinese people’s aspirations for family reunion and happiness. As the people of China and Montenegro admire the same full moon, China is willing to join hands with Montenegro to jointly practice the Global Civilization Initiative, enhance cultural exchange and mutual learning, and further deepen people-to-people bonds.

 

 

During the cultural lecture, Chinese language teacher Lu Lingrong gave a vivid introduction to the origin and development of the Mid-Autumn Festival. She recounted the legend of "Chang'e Flying to the Moon," shared traditional customs such as moon gazing and eating mooncakes, and explained the cultural significance of the festival in contemporary society, which helped participants gain a deeper understanding of this Chinese traditional holiday.

 


The cultural performances offered a splendid feast for the audience. Ajša Reković gave a heartfelt rendition of the Chinese song “May We All Be Blessed with Longevity”, her melodic voice conveying the beautiful wishes of the festival. Petar Pajović recited the ancient poem “Thinking of Loved Ones on a Moonlit Night”, perfectly conveying the charm of classical Chinese poetry. In addition, Andrija Leovać and Ajša Reković shared their personal experiences in China, describing their impressions and observations of the country’s development and cultural richness, which left the audience with a more vivid understanding of modern China.

 

 

Following the performance, guests joined a variety of hands-on cultural activities. Director Fu Lili guided participants in wielding the brush to experience the beauty of Chinese characters. Lu Lingrong presented the elegance and intricacy of Chinese tea culture. Shi Xinwei led participants in making traditional Chinese lanterns, combining traditional craft with the festive atmosphere. Lai Peiyu showcased blue-and-white porcelain painting, which drew wide admiration. Finally, everyone tasted the symbolic mooncakes, ending the celebration with sweet memories of the Mid-Autumn Festival.


The “Embracing Mid-Autumn” Chinese Cultural Experience not only allowed the Montenegrin public to deeply experience China’s traditional festival culture, but also provided a valuable platform for Sino-Montenegrin cultural exchange. continue to play its role as a bridge, organizing more diverse and colorful cultural activities to promote mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of China and Montenegro.
