Free Market Road Show 2025

On Tuesday, March 18th, 2025, the Free Market Road Show was held at the University of Donja Gorica — a series of conferences organized across several Eastern and Western European countries, as well as in the United States. FMRS is organized in cooperation with the Austrian Economic Centre and the Hayek Institute from Vienna, and this is the 17th consecutive year that UDG is a proud host of this conference, which brings together world-renowned professors and experts in the fields of economics, business, law, and more. This year, the FMRS tour kicked off at UDG.

The theme of FMRS 2025 was "The Pretence of Knowledge: What Hayek Knew and What We Don’t." Participants included prominent economists from Europe and the United States, among them the former Vice President of the Austrian Central Bank, Barbara Kolm, PhD. The opening remarks were given by Milica Vukotić, PhD and Barbara Kolm, PhD. The panel was moderated by Ivan Jovetić, PhD, with panellists Barbara Kolm, PhD, Krassen Sanchev, PhD, Mitja Steinbacher, PhD and Ivan Piper, MSc. Closing remarks were given by Marija Radunović, PhD.

In a dynamic and interactive discussion on Hayek’s ideas, the guests shared their perspectives with a full amphitheatre of UDG students on the challenges facing the modern world and the opportunities these situations present. Emphasizing the importance of morality, individual freedoms, spontaneity, the free market, and the value of freedom of choice, they highlighted the universal values that, especially today, must not be taken for granted.

As is tradition, the panellists’ speeches were followed by numerous questions from young people in the audience, marking the successful conclusion of yet another Free Market Road Show at the University of Donja Gorica.
