Two workshops of Confucius Classroom appeared at the Orientation week of UDG

During the workshop, Chinese teacher Shi Xinwei introduced students to contemporary China, covering areas such as science, technology, and culture, which gave them a preliminary understanding of modern China. She shared exchange programs such as the Summer Camp to China and the "Chinese Bridge" competition, encouraging everyone to actively participate and expand their international perspective.

Afterwards, the teacher Shi guided students into the world of porcelain, with a special focus on the history and artistic features of blue-and-white ceramics. The students also personally experienced the process of creating books inspired by blue-and-white porcelain, gaining an appreciation for the charm of traditional Chinese art through hands-on practice.

Chinese teacher Lai Peiyu held the “Chinese Culture and Paper-Cutting” Workshop at 12:30 p.m. and, over five days, engaged 100 students.

The workshop began with lighthearted icebreaker games that created a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Ms. Lai then introduced students to China’s culture and traditions, and guided them on a virtual tour of cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Chengdu. Along the way, students learned about landmarks like the Forbidden City and the Great Wall, as well as foods such as Peking duck and Sichuan hotpot.

A short quiz with small prizes added to the fun, before students moved on to the hands-on paper-cutting activity. With step-by-step guidance, they
folded, drew, and cut paper into designs such as the character “春” (Spring), floral patterns, rabbits, and fish. For many, it was their first time experiencing Chinese paper-cutting. Students said they enjoyed the creative process and gained an appreciation for the beauty of this traditional folk art.

The workshop added a touch of Chinese culture to UDG’s Orientation Week and highlighted the role of the Tourism Confucius Classroom at UDG in promoting cultural exchange and enriching campus life. The Classroom will continue to organize language and cultural activities, providing students in Montenegro with opportunities to learn more about China and fostering friendship between the two countries.
