UDG Opens Its Doors to Students from Europe and Asia

The University of Donja Gorica has once again confirmed its status as an international educational hub and a bridge between Montenegro and the world by organizing the Summer School titled "History of the Future – Culture and Innovation 2025." Held from July 4 to 13, 2025, the program brought together 38 students from 13 countries across Europe and Asia.

Participants came from Hungary, Italy, Russia, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Jordan, China, India, and Montenegro. They represented some of the most prestigious universities, including Budapest Metropolitan University, Università degli Studi di Padova, Lomonosov Moscow State University, Universiti Malaya, Zhejiang Gongshang University, Mahindra University Hyderabad, Sichuan University, and others. Over the course of nine intensive days, participants had the opportunity to explore topics at the intersection of culture and innovationranging from European and Jewish traditions to Chinese, Indian, and Montenegrin heritage, as well as contemporary practices and challenges posed by technologies such as artificial intelligence through lectures, workshops, and thematic excursions.

A special contribution to the Summer School was made by UDG students, who were not only active participants but also played key roles in organizing the event, moderating sessions, and guiding guests through Montenegrin culture and society. UDG alumni also contributed through mentorships and workshops, showcasing the strength and continuity of the university community even beyond graduation.

Participants visited some of Montenegro’s most significant natural and cultural destinations, including Lake Skadar, Lipa Cave, Cetinje, Duklja, the Roman mosaics in Risan, the Bay of Kotor, and Podgorica through thematic walks. They had the chance to experience Montenegrin gastronomy, tourism, and tradition, as well as the spirit of innovation that UDG promotes in all its activities.

The School’s Director, Assistant Professor Dr. Ivan Jovetić, emphasized that summer schools are invaluable opportunities for young people to recognize the importance of intercultural exchange, collaboration, and interdisciplinary knowledge exactly what the future demands.

The Summer School was also part of the All4Life project, an Erasmus+ initiative in which UDG is one of the leading partners. The project aims to strengthen interdisciplinary approaches to education with a focus on innovation, health, and quality of life in the digital age. This program is yet another demonstration of how UDG is actively creating a global network of young leaders and how Montenegro, through education and openness, can be recognized as a destination of knowledge, dialogue, and development.

Through this program, the University of Donja Gorica not only showcased the beauty, cultural richness, and intellectual potential of Montenegro but also proved to be a gateway to global opportunities for young people, both from within the country and beyond.
